L’Oréal Brandstorm 2025 - Blublock

L’Oréal Brandstorm is an annual international competition that challenges students to develop innovative solutions for L’Oréal brands. In this competition, two peers and I were tasked with creating a groundbreaking concept to bring men into the beauty industry.

Through extensive research, we asked ourselves: What is a common challenge all gamers face? This led us to uncover an overlooked issue— the impact of blue light on skin. On the skin, blue light can cause skin aging, hyperpigmentation, acne, and dryness. Recognizing this gap, we developed a conceptual product designed to protect the skin from blue light exposure, called BluBlock. BluBlock has ingredients to protect the skin from the light, with a corresponding app and patches to remind the consumer while gaming to reapply. To maximize its reach, we crafted a marketing campaign in collaboration with Fortnite, leveraging the game’s massive audience to promote skincare awareness among consumers. Fortnite has 250 million monthly users, with 224 million of them being men- the perfect platform to interact with the consumer.
